Delhi University (DU) teachers went on a one-day strike again on 6th January 2022, i.e. Thursday. Hence, this strike is against the non-payment of salary to teachers in the 12 Delhi government-funded colleges. It has been 5 months since the Delhi government paid salaries to these DU Teachers.

DU Teachers are in huge problems due to unpaid salaries:

Most of the DU teachers and non-teaching staff from the 12 government-funded colleges are facing a hard time. Hence, all the pending legal cases, technical errors, and on top of that, the city government’s apathy has ruined their daily lives. Also, most of these teachers have switched to taking loans for their daily requirements, paying loans and EMIs, and more.

Udaiveer Singh, a professor at Acharya Narendra Dev College expressed his problems. Hence, he said that this salary crisis has taken a severe toll on their mental health. Also, all these problems and crisis is affecting their teaching abilities. He even added that they are using their savings and other fixed deposits as a means of livelihood.

DU Teachers unpaid for four months in a row now:

Thus, even after executing their jobs with utmost honesty, Delhi University Teachers are suffering. As per the teachers, salary is their basic right after working hard. But, the Delhi Government has not paid them for four consecutive months. In Acharya Narendra Dev College, teachers were given salaries from the college society fund. Hence, the college will replenish its fund after the grant is received.
