Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) on 9th March called for Delhi University shut down from 11th March to stage protest against a number of matters including non-payment of salaries. On Tuesday, DUTA held an executive meeting to talk over the issues being faced by non-teaching and teaching staff in twelve Delhi government fully funded colleges of DU for the past fourteen months.
Rajib Ray, the DUTA president in a statement said that in various departments of these Delhi University colleges, teachers have not been paid salaries for over 6 months. Furthermore, employees have also not received other dues.
The meeting held on Tuesday also addressed the recent merger of DU affiliated College of Art with Ambedkar University, Delhi.
NO SALARY FROM FOUR MONTHS TO DELHI UNIVERSITY TEACHERS
Recently the Delhi Cabinet announced the merger of College of Art with Ambedkar University Delhi without consulting it with stakeholders and without following the due process. Ray added that DUTA Office-Bearers will conduct a meeting with DU teachers of CoA in this matter.
The DUTA Executive Council further passed a resolution to shut down DU from 11th March and give sudden representations to the DU VC, Delhi Chief Minister, DU college principals, and the chairpersons of 12 DU colleges.
The Association has further decided to conduct meetings with College Karamchari Union (DUCKU), Delhi University, and DU Students Union (DUSU) by 13th March.
DUTA WRITES TO DELHI CM SEEKING RELEASE OF GRANTS
On 15th March, DUTA will stage an Adhikar Rally from DU VC’s Office to the CM residence and another rally on 18th March from VC’s office to the LG’s office.
Moreover, DUTA has asked other staff associations to conduct meetings to mobilize for the protests and programmes and further send feedback by 19th March.
It added that the DUTA Executive will decide on a future course of action on 20th March.
