DU STUDENTS, TEACHERS DETAINED BY THE POLICE FOR PROTESTING AGAINST OBE

Teachers and students assembled in front of Delhi University’s Arts Faculty to protest against anti-student online exams being forced upon students. The protest brought forward the anger confessing that the University of Delhi has taken the decision to conduct online exams without consulting the real stakeholders of the University. A memorandum was also submitted to Delhi University’s vice-chancellor demanding that the decision should be taken back immediately.

Delhi University’s open book exams are going to begin from 1st July 2020 while students are still against the decision of Delhi University’s online exams. A group of 10 protestors assembled outside Faculty of Arts, Delhi University to show their disapproval against University’s open book exams(OBE). The protestors were holding the placards which say no to online exams. The teachers and students were jointly administering the protest in front of the Law Faculty.

On Monday, around 10 students were found outside the Faculty of Arts protesting against Delhi University’s decision to conduct open book exams. Later the police were called and the protesters were detained in charge of the protests outside the Faculty of Arts.

As per the reports, the police took the protestors to the Maurice Nagar police station, later the protestors were released after some time by the police officials.

The protest was observed outside Arts Faculty where protestors gathered holding the placards saying no to OBE. The protests and objections against OBE by the DU students are rising with every passing day. As per the reports, the protestors were forcefully taken to the Maurice Nagar Police Station and were discharged after some time.

DU Exams: GUIDELINES TO APPEAR IN OBE FOR SOL AND NCWEB STUDENTS

The protestors were also asked to sign an undertaking stating that they won’t repeat the same and will not disobey the prohibitory orders imposed in Delhi under section 144 of the criminal procedure code. Meanwhile, the administration refuses to listen to legitimate concerns being raised by real stakeholders of the University.

In view of the Coronavirus pandemic situation, Delhi University has decided to conduct online exams. From day one of the decision, the teachers and students of the University of Delhi are protecting and showing their disapproval against the University’s decision.
