DU STUDENTS PROTESTS TO WAIVE OFF ALL NON-ACADEMIC FEES

A group of DU students was sitting on an indefinite protest to waive off all the non-academic fees. Thus, they explain that several college facilities have not been availed due to the closure of all DU colleges amidst covid-19.

These facilities include electricity, water fees, and most importantly cultural fees, library fees, and laboratory fees. These facilities have not been used for over a year ever since the colleges closed. However, students are required to pay such non-academic fees at the beginning of every academic year. Thus, the DU students allege that the administration is trying to avoid accountability over how these non-academic funds are being utilized.

Problems of DU Students:

The students state that everyone is facing a financial crisis due to covid-19. However, the university is adamant about asking to pay such unnecessary fees. Aftab Alam, a final year DU student wrote a letter to the DU Vice-Chancellor and the dean of students welfare. Hence, he demands to know where the money is being spent.
