Amid the second wave of Coronavirus across the country, the University of Delhi (DU) has stepped up preparations for the rescue of a possible third wave of Corona. Due to which the DU administration has taken many important decisions regarding oxygen and corona care center.

DU has opened Corona Care Center at Deen Dayal Upadhyay College, Laxmibai College, amidst cases of the present infection of Corona. At the same time, DU has started preparations for a possible third wave. Under which the DU will open hostels, the Corona Center in the stadium. A 100 bed COVID Center will also be opened in the hostel of Janaki Devi Memorial College, Hansraj College. A 200-bed corona center will also start in a hostel on the DU campus.

What is Delhi University planning?

Oxygen will be produced at the University of Delhi. To deal with a possible third wave of Corona, the DU administration has decided to produce oxygen on the premises. Under which there is a preparation to set up an oxygen plant in the campus. According to the DU administration, 80 medical cylinders will be filled daily from the oxygen plant. DU will use Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology for this which is very economical. At the same time, DU will also increase testing facilities in its health center.

240 oxygen concentrators to be purchased

DU will purchase 240 oxygen concentrators to protect against Corona’s third wave. After which DU will have more than 350 oxygen concentrators. DU currently has 120 oxygen concentrators. According to DU, at least two oxygen contractors will be ensured per unit keeping in mind all hostels, colleges. DU will also purchase 500 pulse oximeters and 100 thermal scanners in the hostels keeping in mind the health of the students.
