Delhi University’s School of Learning, DU SOL UG admission 2021 has not begun yet. Every year it starts the admission process simultaneously with regular colleges, but this time DU SOL left lakhs of candidates in uncertainty.

According to reports, a shortage in faculty and not having a permanent principal leads to delay. Also, the third reason can be late 12th exams due to the pandemic. Several DU SOL aspirants are waiting for the admission process to begin.

Besides, even before this pandemic in 2018, the DU SOL holds the registration process. Moreover, till now there is no indication when the 2021 admission will start. Though, the officiating principal of SOL, U.S. Pandey said, “SOL needs to apply for approval from the Distance Education Bureau (DBE) of UGC. Later, DBE questioned delaying the admission process.

The Distance Education Bureau asked about teaching staff and stated that the strength of faculty is not sufficient. Further queried about the absence of a permanent principal position. Then, Dean Balram Pani replied, “The principal position will be filled soon as DU finds its new vice-chancellor.”

Further, Pandey told that according to the norms the number of teachers is less in political science and commerce UG as well as PG courses. Presently, for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, DU SOL comprises 18 permanent and 6 ad hoc teachers.

Balram Pani also stated that DU SOL teachers’ requirement is higher to run regular classes as compared to other DU’s distance learning colleges like Non-Collegiate Women Education Board. As NCWEB conducts classes only on weekends for women.
