Delhi University’s high cut-offs disappoint hundreds of students every year, leading to an increasing importance of the courses offered through open learning. The courses that were offered earlier were B. Com(prog), B. Com(Hons.), BA Hons. (English), BA Hons. (Political Science), and some other post-graduate courses. But since the demand is still rising and the number of applications rising, Delhi University is considering adding 10 more courses to the list.

CS Dubey , the director of School of Open Learning said that, “When we studied the number of applications received for these courses, we found that many students had applied but only a limited number got admission. There is a lot of demand for these courses among students so we are providing a chance for students to study these courses through distance medium.”

The list of added courses include:

  • Sc Hons. (Mathematics)

  • BA Hons. (Economics)

  • BA Hons. (History)

  • BA Hons. (Hindi)

  • BA Hons. (Psychology)

  • BA Hons. (Sanskrit)

  • BA Hons. (Hindi Journalism)

  • B Voc in Human Resource Management

  • B Voc in Marketing Management and Retail Business

Commenting on these courses Mr. Dubey added, “The course structure and syllabus has been formed and approved by the GB and was sent to DU for consideration. The university gave us a proforma to fill in the details, which we did and sent to the university.”

It seems like a good move since most of the students aren’t able to get admissions due to high cut-offs. Let’s just wait and hope for the best.
