Delhi University’s School of Open Learning (DU SOL) OBE examinations which were to be held from 12th December has been postponed to March. As per the notification released by Delhi University, the exams for undergraduate and postgraduate courses will now be commenced in Match with the first-year students. Over 3 lakh students will appear for DU exams in March 2021.
Earlier the last date for filling up of examination form was till 5th December but over 40,000 students of SOL third semester could not fill the examination form within time. The students of SOL were surrounded near the department and demanded the postponement of OBE exams. The student committee asserted that a vast number of students have not been able to fill up the examination form and have not been provided enough time to study.
It may be noted that DU SOL has a total of 1,41,298 students in the third semester, out of which over 40,000 students could not fill the examination form till 5th December. Delhi University later extended the last date of submission of examination form till 10th December.
DU SOL OBE has been postponed in students’ interest
Prof. Umashankar Pandey, special work officer at DU SOL said that a large number of students could not fill the OBE examination form on time. Therefore the Delhi University administration has decided to postpone their exams. The SOL exams will now be jointly conducted with the first-year students in March. In March, over one and a half lakh third-year undergraduate students of DU SOL and over 3 lakh first semester students will appear for exams together.
He further informed that study material for exams has also been made available online to Delhi University students. The University of Delhi has taken this interest keeping in mind the interests of the students.
