As per officials, the DU Samarth portal was a huge success due to the centralization. The varsity collected a total of 9.5 crore rupees from approximately 1.4 lakh students. Hence, a great amount of transparency was introduced by the means of this official site made for fee registration and submission. Students of all the DU affiliated colleges headed to the Samarth website for their fee payment this semester.
DU Samarth Portal: The previous shortcomings that challenged DU
DU Samarth Portal was a huge success as it was transparent and had collected almost double the amount of fees compared to the previous year’s amount. During the previous semesters, many Delhi University affiliated colleges didn’t transfer the exam fee amount to DU. Thus, this happened because the colleges were given the responsibility of fee collection. Also, there was no efficient mechanism to ensure checks and balances. But, the Samarth portal is a centralized system and has proved to be much more efficient.
Delhi University semester exams began on November 30 this time. Hence, the varsity has come up with this concept of online open-book exams since last year due to covid.
How did DU Samarth Portal function?
All the students were guided to head to the Samarth portal for their examination form registration and fee payment. Thus, as per Dean DS Rawat, a lot of logistical issues were solved. Also, keeping track of all colleges, their students, and the corresponding fee was difficult. But, this problem is solved through the centralized system.
CANTEENS, HANGOUTS, AND MORE: THINGS DU STUDENTS ARE MISSING NOW
Highlighting other loopholes, Rawat said that previously the DU colleges promoted students without ascertaining if they had cleared exams. But, now no student will be able to open the exam form if they haven’t cleared. Hence, the DU Samarth Portal carries all the previous academic records of all students.
