A DU Professor Apoorvanand was under investigation of the Delhi Police Special Cell in relation to the North-East Delhi riots. His phone was seized during five hours of investigation.

In December, North-East Delhi was shrouded with riots and Jamia was under violence. A professor of Delhi University Apoorvanand is associated with Pinjra Tod and the Jamia Coordination Committee. The Delhi Police Special Cell summoned to investigate the DU professor. He was under investigation for five hours and his phone was seized. He was asked about the Northeast Delhi riots and his presence during the riots and Jamia Violence. In a statement, DU Professor Apoorvanand said that he was asked by the Special Cell to appear for it. He was asked to appear in the investigation into FIR no 59/20. The FIR 59/20 is linked with the violence that occurred in North-East Delhi in February 2020. He said that he was present for five hours under investigation.

PROFESSOR APOORVANAND TEACHES HINDI AT DELHI UNIVERSITY

In a statement, the DU Professor said it is disturbing for him to see that those who are in favor of the Anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act protest are the main reason for violence. DU Professor Apoorvanand teaches Hindi at Delhi University. He said that he corporate and respect the right of police authority. He expects that the authority conducts a full, fair, and thorough investigation.

THE INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE FAIR AND THOROUGH

He hopes that the investigation would focus on the real provoker of the violence against the citizen’s protest and the people of Northeast Delhi. Those who the supporters of the anti CAA should not be harassed. They asserted their democratic rights through Constitutional means. They stated their disagreement in relation to the CAA, 2019, and the decision of the Government of India to regulate the National Population Register (NPR) and the National Register of Citizens(NRC), across India. He further said that he expects the investigation to be thorough and fair so that everyone could know the truth.

AN FIR WAS REGISTERED TO THE SUB-INSPECTOR

An informer registered an FIR on March 6 to the sub-inspector Arvind Kumar. The case was passed on to the Special Cell. It was told to investigate with a higher conspiracy and have added the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The DU Professor is on a police radar. The Delhi Police is investigating against some members of the Popular Front of India (PFI), the Jamia Coordination Committee (JCC), Pinjra Tod, All India Students’ Association (AISA) and all the students of Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University under the UAPA Act.
