DU PROFESSOR HANY BABU ASSOCIATED TO BANNED MAOIST GROUP, NIA PROBES FURTHER

National Investigation Agency (NIA) sent a notice to P.K. Vijayan who is a professor at the University of Delhi. This has been done for questioning in the Bhima Koregaon riots case. The notice was issued under various sections of the IPC and UAPA by the NIA. Prior to this, NIA had arrested Delhi University professor Hany Babu.

Hany Babu, who is a member of the committee formed to defend GN Saibaba (who established Revolutionary Democratic Front), is currently serving life imprisonment for his links with Maoist organizations. He is also associated with the RDF.

Revolutionary Democratic Front (RDF) is operative in 13 Indian states. Its members and chief leaders in most of the states have been arrested and the organization is currently banned. There is an association between the members of the organization and the Maoist Communist Party. Reportedly, the main task of the Revolutionary Democratic Front is to mobilize the general public against our armed/defense forces.

THE BHIMA KOREGAON – ELGAR PARISHAD CASE

In 1818, the Peshwa fought against the British East India Company in the Battle of Bhima Koregaon. In this war, a small number of Dalit society fought on behalf of the British Army. Marking the commemoration of the war, a program named Elgar Parishad was conducted in 2018 highlighting 200 years of that war.

Fierce violence erupted in the entire region after this event and riots were occurring across the region. The entire nexus of the Maoists was revealed by NIA in its investigation. Naxalite supporters and Maoist ideologues were arrested from all across the country.

Sudha Bhardwaj, Rona Wilson, Surendra Gadling, Mahesh Raut, Soma Sen, Arun Ferreira, Gonzalvis, Varvara Rao are few among the arrested ones.

It was reported by the NIA that professor Hany Babu from the University of Delhi was related to the Maoist organization Kangkepak Communist Party- Military Council (KCP-MC) in Manipur. This party happens to be banned Maoist organization which is active in northeast regions and mainly in Manipur. It is also, reportedly involved in extortion from government offices and also involved in violent incidents adn levy. It’s active in Myanmar and Nepal. Allegedly, they have connections with Naxalites-Maoists and they exchange arms and ammunitions.
