Delhi University’s 54-year-old professor, Hany Babu have been arrested on Tuesday by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Elgar Parishad’s case. The associate English professor of Delhi University has been arrested in the scrutiny of Maharashtra Koregaon Bhima violence of 2018.

The Delhi University professor Hany Babu Musaliyarveettil Tharayil is an inhabitant of Uttar Pradesh. The NIA confirmed that he is an associate professor in DU’s department if English.

The DU professor is probably the 12th person who has been arrested in the Elgar Parishad case. Before him, many prominent activists, lawyers, and scholars have been arrested and imprisoned for over two years in the same case.

Jenny Rowena, wife of DU professor Hany Babu who is also a professor at DU’s Miranda House confirmed the news. She asserted that Babu was first summoned to the NIA office on 23 July. Since that day, Babu was being called up every day until today for investigation.

DU PROFESSOR DIES OF ELECTROCUTION AT HOME IN UP

The DU professor Rowena said that NIA has been questioning Babu about a disk that existed in Babu’s computer system from February and April 2019. However, Babu has denied the allegation and said no such partitions were made by him in his system. Still, the NIA claims that the system contained 62 incriminating files that prove his involvement in the case.

Professor Rowena asserts that BAbu has a clean track record and there is a possibility that someone has transferred those clips in his laptop. Moreover, the DU professor Hany Babu alleges the NIA act and investigation process as harassment. He said that NIA has been asking him to travel to Mumbai from Delhi during this pandemic.

The investigation further claims that a plot to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also been revealed. The Modi government has set loose a conflict on Scholars and activists who are critical of their strategies and politics.

The litigation pertains to an incident of December 31, 2017, in Pune. The incident was later pursued by violence which led to the death of a person in Maharashtra. Investigators and agents have contended that the inflammatory speeches at Elgar Parishad meeting made by activist aroused the situation of violence the very next day.

As per NIA, the investigations have divulged that Hany Babu was procreating and involved in Naxal activities and Maoist doctrine. He is being termed as a conspirator who was involved in the case with other accused. Hany Babu will be presented in front of the NIA special court on Wednesday in Mumbai.
