The DU PG seat allocation process for the 2025-26 academic year began with a strong response. The University of Delhi (DU) successfully allotted 11,314 postgraduate seats in Round I of admissions. Within just two hours of the announcement, 1,967 candidates accepted their seats.
This fast response shows the efficiency and popularity of DU’s PG admission system. With nearly 85% of the total seats allocated in the first round, DU’s process stands out for being smooth, fast, and well-planned.
The admission cycle officially began on June 17, 2025. The launch took place under the leadership of DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh. On the same day, the university started the allocation-cum-admission process for PG courses.
DU has 13,432 PG seats, including those under the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB). In 2025, a total of 53,609 candidates applied for 82 PG programs. Among the applicants, there were 23,117 males, 30,490 females, and 2 transgender students.
The DU PG seat allocation process was carried out after the registration window closed on June 12. The registration had opened on May 16. This year, the university received widespread interest from students across India.
The university also introduced two new postgraduate courses this year: MA in Hindi Journalism and MA in Tourism Management. An MA in English Journalism is expected to start soon.
To improve inclusivity, DU introduced a special quota for single girl children. One seat is reserved in each PG program under this category. In total, 1,131 applications were received under the single girl child quota. DU also received 90 applications under the orphan quota for PG admissions.
Among DU’s programs, LLB saw the highest number of applications at 9,270. It was followed by an MA in Political Science, which had 4,996 applicants. Overall, DU’s postgraduate programs remain a top choice for students from all over the country.
The DU PG seat allocation was carried out through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal. DU has made the CSAS portal more user-friendly this year. It now features an auto-accept mode for UG courses. This helps prevent students from missing their seat allotments.
The university recommends using a desktop or laptop to access the CSAS portal, although it is also mobile-friendly. This ensures that applicants can view all features without facing technical problems.
Admissions for NCWEB will open soon. This option is available only for female candidates living in the Delhi NCT region. NCWEB admissions are based on Class 12 marks.
