DELHI UNIVERSITY TO CONDUCT ONLINE ENTRANCE EXAMS FOR PG, M.PHIL AND P.HD COURSES THIS YEAR
Delhi University is likely to announce the admission process for the year 2018-19 for its postgraduate, M.phil and P.Hd courses. The entrance exam will be conducted online this year.
The University had proposed the online mode of examination last year only, but the plan went on hold because of the students protest against it. It was said that the online examination may bring several disadvantages for the students coming from poor backgrounds and backward areas.
In February 2018, University had invited online bids for conducting the examination in around 18 cities.
The entrance will be held as per the resolution under Executive council (EC).
Executive Council (EC) is the highest statutory body of Delhi University and it is responsible for the approval of new policies and amendments. The proposal of online entrance for PG courses was long time pending with EC, but this year Council has apparently passed it.
The University offers 50 courses in Post graduation. The entrance exam is basically held to offer seats to non-DU students.
The 50% of the total no. Of seats offered is reserved for the students of Delhi University itself and for the rest 50% of seats, the entrance exam is conducted.
In order to seek admission in various courses, a candidate must obtain 55% in the entrance exam. While for the direct admission, a student must have 60% in their graduation.
The online entrance exam would have objective-type questions, and the medium of examination will be both in Hindi and English. The entrance exam will be held in three shift.
The examination department will be responsible for the process of conducting and implementing the online entrance examination. However, the task of holding test and declaring of results would be done by a private organisation, under the supervision of superiors of Examination Departments of the University.
