DU online fests have made sure that the pandemic doesn’t get to play the role of a party pooper. Also, academics are progressing at a fair clip online. However, the cultural events and fun parts were almost dead. Hence, the various DU-affiliated colleges have organized the DU Online Fests. Janki Devi Memorial College is the 1st DU college to host the digital fest named – Symphony 2021. The college pulled off a month-long fest which is incredible.
The fact that the digital campus is devoid of all the fun is not true. Colleges have successfully transitioned to these online platforms for their fest-gala. Hence, no student will get a chance to sulk at missing out on the fun.
This is how Janki Devi Memorial College pulled off a month-long DU Online Fests:
Professor Smita Mishra, History Department, said that the staff advisor consulted the Student’s Union. As per the feedbacks, there was an outcry for an online fest. Therefore, the faculty decided to host a month-long fest.
The fact that the fest lasted for a month was remarkable. However, the conventional offline fests only lasted for 2-3 days. But this time, students enjoyed their heart out with one event per day. No event was simultaneously held in the DU Online Fest. Hence, nobody missed any of the programs which often occurred in offline fests.
Also, several events like dance, music, and drama were pre-recorded and simply displayed. Hence, this made the work easy and the students got an opportunity to learn. Students even made connections simply by sitting in their homes.
Are DU online fests better than offline ones?
Students say that a digital fest is better than no fest. Hence, the bare minimum of fun is also acceptable in such crucial times. However, on-ground fests accompanied with dance, candid photo sessions, music, etc. remain everyone’s preference.
