DU online fests

DU Online Fests is the new concept for the year 2021. Hence, this is the 1st time, such a transition is taking place in the colleges of Delhi University. Some of the colleges have already announced the organization of DU Online Fests.

Delhi University is popular for its extravagant and popular fests. Thousands of students for all the DU colleges wait with bated breath throughout the year to attend the fests. However, the pandemic has made the students sulk in despair as they miss out on all the fun of DU fests.

Previously, DU fests were generally conducted in February and March. Hence, several colleges have decided to shift into online fests. Hence, this the best that could be done post-pandemic.

What to expect in DU Online Fests?

DU fests are generally a two to three-day affair which incorporates activities like cultural events and more. Hence, for the DU Online Fests, students are deciding to conduct activities where students showcase their talents. The activities will be held on any digital platforms where all the students could join. Also, various college societies will perform digitally.

Aurobindo College is conducting its first DU online Fest – “Mahek”. Hence, this online fest will be conducted on 12th March 2020. Hence, students will be showcasing their talents in the various competitions on an online platform. Sangeeta Kaul, the cultural convener of Mahek says, “If we initiate, others will also follow.”

The societies of Aurobindo College will perform their dance, act, music, fashion show, and more. Hence, the college is giving them a week before the event for preparing and recording their performances. Hence, it will be then telecasted in the event. The college is also organizing an interactive spic MACAY session and also a Quwaali show. Also, the students are planning to invite a celebrity guest. It is a staple custom of DU Colleges to call a celebrity.

ARE DU PRACTICALS IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS TO GET A DEGREE?

Student’s reaction to the concept of DU Online Fests:

Students are extremely excited to execute and attend DU Online Fests. The final year students are really happy that they could attend fests in the last year of their college life. Mukul Malik, a final-year student says that the idea of DU Online Fests is awesome considering the situation. Hence, most of the final year students are extremely jubilant. They consider it better to have an online fest than no fest.

FATE OF PENDING DU FEST? POSTPONE OR CANCEL?

However, some students are worried and unhappy about the Online Fests. Hence, they fear losing the candid moments and fun of offline fests. Yukti Aggrawal, a first-year student says that the Online Fests are mere formalities. She adds, that the memorable moments can only be gathered in an on-ground fest. Hence, most of the freshers are not so happy about the DU Online Fests as they will be physically within the campus soon.
