Considering all the protests and requests for offline classes, the Delhi University administration decided on college reopening from 17th February 2022. Thus, this order was issued on 9th February 2022 and an official office order was issued.
Here is what the office order states on college reopening:
The order stated that all teaching and learning activities in Delhi University colleges were undergoing online from 19th March 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic. Hence, Delhi University students who had come from various states of India had been residing in their hometowns. Also, they were attending classes from there. But, now it is difficult for all the outstation students to come and accommodate in Delhi within such short notice. So, enough time is needed by students to arrange for travel and accommodations.
The DDMA guidelines were released on 4th February 2022 asking all educational institutions in the capital to reopen. In view of those guidelines, the Delhi University VC constituted a committee to act on this matter. Thus, this committee looked into all matters of college reopening. They even talked about issues related to the Dean of Faculties, college principals, directors of hostels, and HoDs.
Here are the recommendations of the committee on college reopening:
- The committee declared that offline classes for all UG and PG courses will begin from 17th February 2022.
- Outstation students are advised to reach Delhi 3 days before the college reopening. Hence, this will ensure that they get a minimum of 3 days for self-isolation.
- All the DU libraries, canteens, and laboratories will function from the day of college reopening.
