On Friday, Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia declared that colleges can start offline classes from 1 September. Consequently, JNU, Delhi University, and JMI will hold an internal conference to discuss the same.
The Delhi government has issued the notice that colleges and schools can continue the offline mode. However, schools will only open for classes 9 to 12 in a phased manner.
Delhi University reopened in February only for final year students to access labs. Later, due to the second wave, it was also discontinued.
At the start of August, DU officially announced to restart the offline classes, but some teachers showed disagreement.
Moreover, DU registrar Vikas Gupta has cleared that the campus will not reopen from 1 September. Because they did not receive any guidelines from the Delhi Disaster Management Authority. He added colleges will first reopen for science students.

Vice-chancellor M.J. Kumar of JNU says they will discuss the matter only after they receive the official order.
He also said, “whatever the guidelines issued by the government, we are going to follow it as an educational institution. Our students are spread across the country and some of them might be living in the hotspot area. We will give them some time to return. Once the government order comes, we will discuss it so that students are not left inconvenienced”.
However, JNU students are requesting to reopen the campus in a phased manner.
According to the official of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), it will wait for UGC guidelines. He added that they will discuss the reopening matter with the Academic Council and Executive Council.
He also said, “we have several students from Kerala where a large number of covid-19 cases are being reported. We shall not open a hostel because several things need to be done for proper arrangements”.
Moreover, the GGSIPU and Ambedkar University, are also waiting for the official notice.
