The respected DU flower show is on February 28th. The show was initiated by the VC of the New Delhi Municipal Council, Satish Upadhyay. The occasion took place at the Gautam Buddha Centenary Garden. It is located on the North Campus, University of Delhi.

During his speech, Upadhyay applauded Delhi University’s assistance in the field of education. The university is standing as one of the biggest higher education institutions in India. He pointed up the importance of the DU flower show.

This has been an annual occasion scheduled in February-March every year. He allured participants from India and abroad. The exhibition featured a wide range of seasonal as well as colourful flowers. Like bonsai trees, leafy plants, cacti, succulents, as well as ferns.

Upadhyay was an alumnus of DU. He did his graduation from a prestigious institution. Upadhyay also took a playful part in the programs arranged by Delhi University. He lingered in the student union here. Upadhyay said that many eminent people have obtained an education from DU. Those were containing Nobel Prize winners, Eminent Journalists, Chief Justices, Politicians, Bureaucrats, Sportspersons, etc.

This year’s flower show was especially special. This is because the Mughal Garden at Delhi University was renamed the ‘Gautam Buddha Centenary’. It was renamed in the glory of the statue of Mahatma Buddha. It has been there in the garden for the last 15 years. The flower show is also labeled the centenary year of DU. This also shows the 75th year of India’s independence. An element of the AazadikaAmritMahotsav celebrations.

The event was a triumph, with all colleges of Delhi University taking part in the annual flower show. Miranda House College acquired the award for best horticulture.
