Delhi University is coming up with the idea of promoting the 1st and 2nd-year students on the basis of 50-50 formula. This 50-50 formula includes the result of the previous semester along with the internal assessment of the current semester.
ONLINE LECTURES ARE PROVIDED TO THE STUDENTS
The coronavirus pandemic has led to the termination and cancellation of many tasks. Because of lockdown, all the educational institutions are temporarily closed. But that doesn’t mean that the academic session would also cease. Talking about schools, teachers are providing them live sessions and helping students by teaching them online. Online classes are conducted by the teachers so that students would not face any kind of difficulty in their studies. The academic session is proceeding as usual for the school. But what about University? At least the academic session has begun in school, but in the case of a university, their exams of previous academic sessions are pending.
As it is not safe to conduct classroom examinations and it is important to proceed towards the next academic session, some universities have decided to promote their students on the basis of the previous semester result and internal assessment. Delhi University is one of them.
IDEA OF 50-50 FORMULA
Delhi University is coming up with an idea of promoting first and second-year students on the basis of 50-50 formula. This 50-50 formula includes 50 percent marks of the previous semester result and rests 50 percent marks of internal assessment of the prevailing semester. This simply means that Delhi University is deciding to promote first and second-year students without taking any exam of the present semester. Their present semester result would include 50 percent of the previous result and the rest 50 percent includes marks of internal assessment. It is said by an official that students would not have to give exams of the current semester.

CLASSROOM EXAMINATION IS NOT POSSIBLE THIS YEAR
In order to maintain and follow the norms and protocols of social distancing, it is not possible to take classroom examinations this year. That is why Delhi University derived this 50-50 formula for the students of the first and second years.
OPEN BOOK EXAMINATION FOR THIRD YEAR STUDENTS
For the students of the third year, Delhi University is conducting open book online exams. It is the last semester exams for the third year. So, Delhi University has decided to conduct online exams for the students of the third year. The date sheet of open book examination has been notified to the students. Exams for the third year would begin on 1st July 2020. This year the duration of the exam would be of 2 hours. For first and second-year students, grades would be granted to them for the present semester.
WHAT ABOUT DELHI SCHOOL OF OPEN LEARNING?
Delhi School of Open Learning is also conducting exams for third-year students. Their exams would begin from 1st July 2020 and the date sheet has already been notified to the students. For the first-year students of Delhi School of Open learning, the authority is deciding to promote first-year students on the basis of internal assessment. The final statement for first-year students of Delhi School of Open Learning along with the first and second-year students of regular students has been released by the University and notified to everyone.
