Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the biggest question standing in front of students was about their examination.

Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Education Minister, said in an interview with NDTV that the exams will be held for final year students of universities, others will be promoted based on their internal marks and previous year’s result.

Educational Minister was asked about the scenarios followed by the government to reopen schools and colleges. He speaks in the answer that the lockdown should not be considered to be a waste of time to the youth of the nation- students. They are also planning to take the remaining board exams of the students, pending board exams will be held in the month of July. The CBSE board is taking their remaining board exams and the date sheet for CBSE board exams is already out.

Whereas, He further added that the final year students will appear for exams and the University exams for the final year students will take place in the month of August.

1st and 2nd years students will be prompted without exams

Education Minister also mentioned in his interview that the Final year students will appear for exams but they are aiming to promote first and second years students without examination.  Moreover, the Universities will declare the result for the first and second year’s students on the basis of their previous exams and the internal assessment of this year. The University will consider the average of 50% marks of their previous exams + 50% marks in the internal assessment of this semester.

Due to the current pandemic and the different situations in different areas, Universities can take their own decisions as per the situation. The special steps for students will be taken in force in Red Zone. Decision- based on geography and the number of Coronavirus cases States can take their decision and the safety of the students will be paramount.

Some Universities have already promoted their 1 and 2 years students without any examinations while some universities are still left with their final decision.

Several Protest In Delhi University To Promote 1st and 2nd Years Students:

DUTA ( Delhi University Teacher Union ) and NSUI ( National Students Union Of India ) both are against the online examination this semester. Online examination will never be a fair examination as many of the students doesn’t even have internet access according to them.

They demand to promote 1st and 2nd year’s students without exams and even wrote letters to the Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University regarding their concerns.

However, Delhi University is ready to take an online examination of final year students and the date sheet will be out soon.
