Due to outbreak of the covid-19, there is an anxiety on every side. At the same time, the government has not released the funds to Delhi government funded colleges in Delhi University. In such a situation, the DU employees have not received their salaries for several months.
In this regard, according to its predetermined schedule, the Delhi government have not paid their salary for the last four months. On this issue, Delhi University and College Employees Union of 12 colleges staged a protest at the office of the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University.
The union staged a sit-in protest with workers demanding release of salary. As soon as the strike of the employees started, the police station head of Morris Nagar reached the picket site with a heavy police force. He said that in this situation doing Protest is not allowed.
The employees told the police personnel who reached the picket site that they have not received their salary for the last 4 months. Even during the corona virus duration, the employees of Delhi University are forced to die hungry.
University officials and Delhi government are bent on doing politics with members of government bodies. Due to this politics, mental and economic exploitation of employees is taking place.
Even after the police talks when the strike was not stopped then the police, the union chief Devendra Sharma, Ravindra Pandey general secretary Anil Kumar cum secretary Shalu Badhwa deputy chief and Nand Kishore Gupta – Pradhan, Ashok Kumar – general secretary, Mahesh Kandpal Duklsa and Sanjay Kumar Pradhan Library Association and Anil Kumar Deputy Principal SC / ST Association and 4 other executive members Ranjit Singh, Kamaljeet, Sanjay, Lalit Mohan were arrested from the dharna site in the university.
After this, all the officials were kept locked by the police at Maurice Nagar police station. After the police arrested the union officials, many employees also started reaching outside the police station. The police released the arrested officials on bail.
The union has announced that if the Delhi government does not release the salaries of the university employees, then the employees will continue to protest about the release of their salaries.
Now the DU employees have announced a sit-in outside the Delhi Assembly on Friday at 10 am. Employees demand that funds be released to 12 funded colleges of Delhi government so that the DU employees get salaries and can support their families.
