DU Cutoffs are expected to be skyrocketing for this admission season as per college principals. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared its class 12th Board Exams results. Hence, more than 70,000 students secured 95 percent and above. Thus, with so many students getting such high scores, the DU Cutoffs will go up. Also, the registration process for undergraduate admissions will kick start on 2nd August 2021.
Reason for the higher DU Cutoffs:
As per the estimates given by DU affiliated college principals, the exact picture will be clear once the registration starts. However, the unanimous prediction says that the cutoffs will be much higher than last year. The sole reason for the high scores given to students in the 12th Board exam results for 2021.
Statement of college principals on DU Cutoffs:
Anju Srivastava, the principal of Hindu College said that DU cutoffs are decided by the scores in the ICSE, State Boards, and CBSE. Hence, with the majority 12th results as high as 95 percent and above, there is no choice but to keep the cutoffs high. She even added that the varsity has a limited number of seats for every course. Hence, they end up taking admissions beyond the sanctioned strength every year. Once a student meets the eligibility criteria, admission becomes mandatory.
Rama Sharma, principal of Hansraj College said that the increase will depend on the courses. The cutoffs might increase by 0.5 to 1 percent or even more. Also, popular courses like BA English, Political Science, and B.Com (Hons) will witness higher cutoffs.
As per Rajeev Gupta, the chairperson of admissions, the DU cutoffs will release between September 8 to September 10. Also, students are expected to start with the ug registrations from 2nd August.
