The fate of DU cutoff based admission is very dicey. The Executive Council of DU has agreed to the conductance of entrance-based admission, i.e. CUCET. Hence, this decision of the DU’s Executive Committee has left the students in confusion. Thus, they are wondering if it is good news or something to worry about.
Will CUCET replace DU cutoff based admissions?
Delhi University will do away with the age-old cutoff-based system of education from the academic year 2022. Hence, all DU aspirants can appear for entrance exams for admissions. However, they are confused if doing away with the high DU cutoffs implies less stress. The University of Delhi has not yet decided if it will adopt the central exam pattern or not.
Students reaction to the new system for admissions:
Adveer Singh, a local DU aspirant says that it is quite a revolutionary change. However, another local aspirant from the city, Khushi Gupta said differently. Thus, she said that no matter what she is told to aim for 100 percent. She added that even if students don’t need to work hard, they should enjoy every bit. As per her, the Common Entrance Test will check the aptitude of the student while the DU cutoff based admission checks memory. Hence, it is wonderful that the education system is now giving importance to aptitude rather than the mugging up capacity.
DU’S EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPROVES CUCET FROM 2022
However, the approach of studying for Board exams and an entrance exam is very different. Thus, studying for both can be difficult.
Another student, Aarushi Pandey is from IBDP Board. Thus, she holds the view that the CUCET would give students a better chance at getting into DU. She said this because of how Kerala students made it into DU due to the high marks given. Thus, the exams will bring justice to admissions.
