DU college teachers demand to take online classes from home. As mentioned in the fresh guidelines, DU college teachers have to continue conducting classes from the campus. Hence, the staff association of DU’s Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies wrote to the college principal to allow work from home.
Amidst the surging cases, DJ college teachers want to follow the social distancing norms. Hence, they request to conduct classes and perform other college work from home.
Claims of the SSCBS Staff Association:
The SSCBS staff association states that the institution’s first covid-19 case was diagnosed on 1st April 2021. However, online teaching from the college campus continued till 6th April 2021. Therefore, the staff community has been worried about getting infected in colleges. The DU college teachers even assure that the digital teaching process will continue uninterrupted even from home.
SSCBS principal rejects the work from home idea of DU college teachers:
However, the SSCBS principal, Poonam Verma claims that work from home cannot be granted. She states that individual rooms are allocated to each teacher for work. Also, the teachers suspicious of having caught the virus are given medical leaves.
Verma states that the varsity has not rolled out an order to permit work from home. Hence, she makes clear that no such decisions will be taken on a college level.
The new guidelines issued by DU clarifies the fate of DU college teachers:
A set of fresh covid-19 guidelines were issued by DU on 12th April. As per those guidelines, the staff community has to work with 50 percent occupancy. Hence, all the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students will continue online from campus. P C Joshi, the DU Vice-Chancellor states that they are only abiding by the guidelines issued by DDMA and MHA.
