Right when DU College societies and other curriculums were going back to normal, the omicron variant of covid-19 struck. Hence, the joy on students’ faces about reopening and resumption of DU college societies activities completely shattered. With the increasing number of Omicron cases, educational institutions including DU has no option but to stay shut.

The majority of the DU college societies have decided to continue with the virtual mode for the next few months. Thus, with the increasing infection rate they didn’t have many options left. So, going back to virtual meetings and zoom calls is good for now.
The English dramatic society of Sri Venkateswara College named Verbum was regularly organizing physical meetings when cases were less in number. But, now they have made a new virtual calendar and would stick to it for the next few months. Thus, Arya Ray, the president of Verbum said that they are conducting online workshops and training now. Also, she added that they hold scriptwriting workshops and sessions on technical (lights and sound) and production (costumes, props) parts of plays. Hence, transition to virtual mode is tough but not unachievable.
One of the other DU societies, the finance and investment cell of SRCC also went completely digital. Hence, they have resorted to digital support sessions now. The president, Sanya Madan explained about their virtual induction and mentor groups. Hence, all the juniors in the cell are working under some senior mentors and interacting over G-meets. Also, their session on Shri Ran Financial Forum started already.
As for NGOs and social working-based college societies, they have also taken a digital detour. Students in Connecting Dreams Foundation is an NGO affiliated with Miranda House. Thus, as for now, they are organizing virtual fundraisers.
