The University of Delhi has decided to allocate a huge sum of 10 crores from the University Development Fund to mark its centenary celebration. Hence, this decision was taken by the University development committee comprising of former DU VC, P C Joshi, and registrar Vikas Gupta. Also, the varsity has planned to set up a coffee table book launch as a part of their year-long centenary celebration.

What did the Development Committee recommend in the centenary celebration?
The report states, “The committee has acknowledged that the Delhi University will be completing its 100 years of glorious service in May 2022.” Established in the pre-independence era of 1922, Delhi University has prospered from strength to strength. Hence, it has come a long way since the day of establishment in every aspect. So, the committee endorsed the decision of DU to commemorate. Hence, the centenary celebration would be done in a grant way as 100 years is a big deal.
Also, the report declared that an expenditure of 10 crores will be incurred. Thus, the varsity doesn’t want to miss anything in the year-long centenary celebration. As per a meeting held on 17th December 2021, even the decision-making body and the executive council of DU accepted. Thus, altogether they will celebrated the 100 year mark of DU.
The year-long centenary celebration:
As per officials, the celebration will begin from 1st May 2022 to 1st May 2023. Hence, this will mark the beginning and the end of the centenary year, i.e the completion of 100 glorious years. DU will arrange a coffee table book that will consist of old pictures from the time of DU’s existence.
