DU B. ED Entrance Exam | Admission 2018, A Complete Guide

The DU B.Ed admissions commence in the month of June. B. Ed is an entrance based course,i.e, one needs to pass the qualifying exam in order to get admission in the course. The course is offered by four colleges from the University namely, Faculty of Education (Central Institute of Education – CIE), Lady Irwin College (LIC), Maharshi Valmiki College of Education (MVCE) and Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women (SPMC). The different particulars and details related to the entrance examination and admission to the course are as follows :

Eligibility is the most important particular to be considered by the candidate before arriving at the decision of pursuing the exam. The potential candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in any stream such Arts, Science, Social Science, Commerce, Engineering, Technology, respectively with the minimum of 50% aggregate marks, from a recognised institution in order to qualify for the entrance exam. Students of B.Tech or B.E should have at least 55% of aggregate marks. The candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/(C/WAP)/VD/OVD have an advantage of 5% concessions in the minimum eligibility essentials. A student in the final year is also eligible to take the exam.

The candidate is required to select one subject as the Teaching Subject. The candidate must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in the chosen subject. The chosen subject should be of at least 200 marks and the candidate’s minimum score should 50% in the same. Only one main subject should be selected.

ADMISSION FORM

  • The students are required to fill the Delhi University B.Ed Online Application Form 2018 to further seek the entrance exam. The Application Form is released by the University on its website. The candidates need to follow the following steps in order to apply for the course:
  • Visit the University official website and open the DU PG Admission Portal.
  • Thoroughly read all the relevant information related to the B.Ed prospectus and ensure the eligibility.
  • Fill the form DU B.Ed Application Form carefully. Please refer to the step by step instruction provided by the University website.

It should be noted that no alterations to the form can be made after completion of fee payment.

EXAM PATTERN

The entrance exam counts for the most important step for the admission, which makes it important for the candidate to be well-versed with the pattern. The DU B.ED entrance exam is a three hours exam with 400 objective type,i.e, multiple choice based questions. The number of question mandatory to be attempted is 150.

The paper will be divided into following four sections:

  • Section A: General Knowledge and Teaching Aptitude: The section tests the general knowledge, political, social, economic and environmental awareness of the candidate, related to different issues.
  • Section B: Reasoning: The section analyses the different aspects of the candidate’s logical, mathematical and verbal abilities. Also, the section tests the candidate’s ability to cope with problematic situations.
  • Section C: Knowledge Up to Class X: The section includes secondary level questions based on understanding and application of the different notions of Science, Social Science and Mathematics.
  • Section D: Proficiency in Language: The sections consists of comprehension based questions in Hindi and English languages.

The answer keys of the entrance exam will be uploaded by the within 24 hours of the conclusion of the exam. The candidate must check the answer key with respect to the question paper via the University website. If any discrepancy is found, the applicant can register a complaint within 48 hours of the availability of the answer key.

If the applicant wishes to obtain the Response Sheet, he/she must place the request within 7 calendar days from the date of declaration of the results to the University in the prescribed format with a fee of Rs.500 per paper.

DU B.Ed COUNSELING 2018

The counselling session is held with respect to the candidate’s performance in the entrance test. The merit list released holds the possibility of choosing the desired college for the candidate. The candidates are ranked according to their performance in the merit list. The eligible candidates are called for the counselling session offered by the University. The name on the Merit’list does not guarantee admission, however. The documents required to be kept by the candidate include entrance exam admit card, photo identity proof, two photographs, a copy of the application form.

The total number of seats available for the course is 350 (100 in each college mentioned above excluding SPMC, where only 50 seats are available). The reservation offered are as follows :

Scheduled Caste – 15%

Scheduled Tribe – 7.5%

Other Backward Castes – 27%

Candidates are allotted different institutions based on the performance in the entrance exam, the rank in the merit list of the respective category, subject category and preference of the institutions. The candidates must keep in regular touch with the University website for regular updates.
