New Delhi: A panicky situation appeared among the PG applicants of DU (Delhi University) when their screens showed a technical error that ‘the admission process has been canceled’. The admission process to DU’s various undergraduate and postgraduate courses began on June 20. The undergraduate and postgraduate portal will remain open till July 4 to accept registrations.
A student who has applied for a master’s degree in economics said that he filled in all the details in the form. But once he moved forward towards the payment, the website showed an error. He could not proceed with the registration process and then suddenly a message pooped on the screen that the admission procedure has been canceled.
Akshay Lakra, a Final year Law student at the University, who is also the Delhi Pradesh President of NSUI-DU said that when one clicks on the payment gateway option, the message pops that the PG admission process has been closed. Even though, the last date to apply is July 4.
When clicked on the ‘how to pay’ option, the same error surfaces.
He said that this is the situation of the top university of the country which is planning to hold mock tests of lakhs pf students in two days.
Dean (Admissions) Shobha Bagai, however, said that incident was only a technical glitch. She said that as soon as she got to know about the glitch, she logged in and the portal worked fine. She said that there might have been some glitch for some time, but the portal is working fine now.
As online services for providing EWS and OBC non-creamy layer (NCL) certificates have halted temporarily, many students were seen along with their parents gathered outside the office of Dwarka Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).
DU has received 92,036 applications so far for postgraduate admissions.
