The last year indicated a high inflow of application in Delhi University which led to a high rise in cutoffs while this year might bring relaxation for students. The University of Delhi is allowing students to apply for all their preferred courses through a single application form which will initially offer students wide choices to select courses and colleges at the time of admission. The students will not be bounded by the limited choices and will be able to apply for the courses as per the released cut-off list.
The previous year showed the high frequency of applications for courses including economics, history, physiology, BA program, and English with Himalayan high cut-offs. The highest cutoff was 98.75 percent for English and economics. Whereas for the history it went 98.5 and for the BA program 97 percent.
DU Admissions 2020 Single Application Form
For DU admissions 2020, the University has offered a single application form that will be equipped for any course or college students wish to take admission to. The application form with no regulation is anticipated to bring down the interior transfers of the 2020 batch. So the students will not have to withdraw their admission again and again.
Professionals are however believing that cutoffs are going to be high because if two reasons:
First, the University has received a large number of applications this year which might result in high cutoffs.
Second, many students have scored more than 95% in 12th board exams.
DU ADMISSION 2020: ADDITION TO ECA QUOTA ADMISSION RULES
Over 2.5 lakh students applied for admission to Delhi University while the application figures have gone to 3,29,441 so far. The University has extended the deadline which may result in more number of applications. Among the state boards and all other boards, the maximum number of registrations have been received from CBSE board with over 2.3 lakh applications. Followed by the CISCE board with over 9,500 applications, and Haryana and UP board with over 6,700 applications each. The number of applications for DU admissions 2020 is expected to go higher.
Delhi University has received the highest number of applications from the CBSE board. About 1.5 lakh CBSE board students have scored over 90% marks in class 12th board exams. The total number of students scoring 90 or 95 percent this year has almost doubled. Over 1.47 percent of students out of 12 lakh students have scored 95% and above. Over 13.24 percent of students have scored 90% marks. The results have shown a rise of 7.82 from that of last year.

One of the core most reasons for the rise in the number of applications is because students may not go abroad for higher education this year. Due to coronavirus pandemic, students are applying to Indian colleges and universities. Another foremost reason is the delay in NEET, JEE, and NEET exams. Students who were dependent on these exams are now applying to University. While the varsity if University, Bagai said that commenting on this year’s cutoffs will only generate anxiety in students. He added that once the registrations for DU admissions are over, a proper idea of cutoffs can be taken out.
