On Monday, St. Stephen’s College of Delhi University said that it will switch to online interviews for admissions to PG courses this year. This decision has been taken by the University to maintain social distancing norms amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier, the college had announced a similar decision for admission to undergraduate courses. The college has also done away with the written test component for this year.
The notification issued by St. Stephen’s College on Monday, stated that the admission procedure to the postgraduate courses will be entirely online.
The notification read that in order to be considered at St. Stephen’s College, the candidate must register through the online application form at the official website of St. Stephen’s College. The students should clearly indicate their Delhi University registration number. Only those students will be considered at the time of admission and registration, who have been shortlisted based on entrance exams or based on the merit of the University of Delhi.
The admission tutor of the college, Mahesh Gopalan said that the candidates are first selected based on merit or results of entrance exams by Delhi University. All the interviews for admission into the master’s courses will be held online. The prospectus will be released in a day or two which will outline all the details.
Nine postgraduate courses are offered by St. Stephen’s College- MA in English, Economics, Philosophy, History, and Sanskrit, and MSc in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Operational Research.
The St, Stephen’s College is a religious minority institute that has its unique admission process for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions. It reserves 50% of its seat for the Christian students.
