It was announced on Wednesday that the individual DU colleges will verify the ECA certificates submitted by students for admission under the ECA quota. Before admissions, a committee set up by the individual colleges will verify these certificates.
This year, no trials will be held, and the students will be granted admission under this quota based on certificates. There will be four categories, out of which prizes and participation hold the highest weight. The third category will be training, exams, and workshops and the fourth will be published works. All in all, the candidates will be trained out of 100 marks.
There are 14 categories of ECA available, in which students can apply. But the admission under this category will be dependent on the availability of seats at the course and DU colleges they apply to. An ECA committee will be set up by these DU colleges which will verify the certificates uploaded by the students before the confirmation of their admission.
An ECA grievance committee will be set up by the university which will address any grievances with regard to the award of marks. A matrix of marks awarded to different types of certificates under each category has been uploaded by the University.
For example, the highest marks awarded are for winning the first prize in an international competition. There are no marks awarded for participation in an inter-school of intra school competition.
In terms of training, students are awarded marks only if they have trained under an institution or under a guru or if they have passed certifying examinations. The highest marks awarded in this case are for over four years of passing examinations with certificates.
For workshops, the highest score given for workshops is for more than 30 days. No marks will be awarded for a workshop of less than a week.
For the final category, the students will be awarded 12 marks if they have performed publicly or exhibitions based on documentary evidence.
Moreover, if students cross a certain threshold in each category, four extra marks will be awarded to them for sustained activity.
