Bharati college is one of the eminent women’s colleges in West Delhi. The Bharati college is a constituent college of Delhi University and is located in a scenic and serene campus. The college caters to around 2000 students and offers courses in eleven disciplines in the social sciences and arts. Students can also opt for honors courses among them. The college also offers masters courses. Bharati College Delhi University offers several routes for nurturing talent and personality development through extracurricular activities in dance, theatre, debates as well as music, cultural and literary activities, and departmental societies. It does not offer any courses in science and related streams.
A constituent college affiliated with the University of Delhi, Bharati College was established as Bharati Mahila College by the Delhi Administration in September 1971. It began its operations from the offices of a boys Government senior secondary school in Karol Bagh.
The placement cell of Bharati College Delhi University is good and works hard to get their students placed in good companies. The internship opportunities at Bharati College are great with active participation. The infrastructure of the Bharati College is the same as of other DU colleges. However, it holds a better reputation among DU Colleges in terms of infrastructure. Ragging in Bharati College is prohibited.
Here, all junior and senior students are considered equal. Every year the students in collaboration host several parties but the most famous one is the freshers’ party. Students from across the country take admission to Bharati college and there are few foreign students as well. Every year several celebrations and events take place in college. There are dance, party, flash mob, poetry, storytelling, drama, singing, or some of the other events happening in the Bharati College Delhi University.
The college offers various part-time certificate, diploma, and advanced diploma courses in German and French languages. Though the courses are run and administered by the college, the syllabus is prescribed by the Department of German and Roman Studies, University of Delhi. The Delhi University’s Bharati College also offers various add on courses in social media advertising and digital marketing in association with R.K. Films & Media Academy. The college also offers various computer courses and other short-term courses.
Former Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Sahib Singh Verma began his career as a librarian at Bharti College Delhi University. Dr. Asha Gupta, reader in the Department of Political Science at Bharati College is now the head of the department of Hindi Medium Implementation at the University of Delhi. Several students who graduated from Bharati College have been placed in great companies. Bharati College is popularly known for its dance society (Advaita) and fashion society (Elantre).
There is only one course offered by Bharati College in postgraduation. It offers postgraduation in M.A. in Hindi.
The college offers admission to M.A. in Hindi in two modes I.e., merit/direct and entrance based. Candidates who have not done their graduation from the University of Delhi are subjected to apply through entrance based admission. Whereas candidates who have done their graduation from the University of Delhi can apply through merit-based or entrance based or both.
The college offers a total of 20 seats in M.A. in Hindi. M.A. in Hindi offered by Bharti College is a two years regular postgraduation full-time course. To get admission to M.A. in Hindi candidates are required to complete their graduation with at least 40% marks to apply through merit-based admission.
For admission to its postgraduate M.A. in Hindi course, the admission process usually begins in May/June every year. The concerned department of Delhi University handles the entire process of admission to M.A. in Hindi.
Bharati College Delhi University is one of the best women’s college of the University of Delhi. The wifi speed in Bharati college is good. The labs are well equipped and well furnished. The college comprises of a huge library area and also consist of a research center in the college premises. The location of the college is amazing and the faculty staff is also cooperative and helpful. Overall placements in Bharati college are good as nearly 50% of the total students get placed every year. The placement cell of the college has been upgraded in past years which now provides placements and internship opportunities in reputed companies.
Every year famous singers and celebrities visit Bharati College during the fest. Also, students of Bharati College with their college ID cards can attend most of the Delhi University College fests. Overall the college is great with excellent academics and faculty members. Academics in Bharati college is highly commendable. Not only academics, but extra-curricular activities also ensure the overall development of students.
