DU ADMISSION 2020: THE ADMISSION PROCESS IS LIKELY TO BEGIN TOMORROW, JUNE 20
Delhi University admission process is expected to begin tooday, i.e. on June 20. The admission process was on hold due to the outbreak of a coronavirus pandemic. Moreover, a University official told news agency PTI that the registration process for admission to Delhi University will most likely begin on June 20.
The University will not hold any sports or ECA trials. The decision to do away with sports and ECA trial is only a one time measure taken in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Delhi University has decided that there will be no admission in ECA quota except for NCC and NSS on the basis of certificates and no trials will be held. For sports quota too, the admission will be granted on the basis of certificates.
The University has already done away with the admissions under the ECA (Extra-curricular category) this year. It would have been tough to conduct trials because of the norms of social distancing.
The sub-committee meeting for sports, ECA, and other performance-based admissions were held recently. It was decided that for the UG/PG admissions based on sports, the performance/trial’s marks (a maximum of 60 marks) will be clubbed with the sports certificate marks (a maximum of 40 marks).
There was a meeting held on June 9. In a meeting, DU Standing Committee on Admissions decided that the registration process for all courses will open between June 20 and July 4. According to the report, the University will then open a second window to allow students to update their 12th marks after CBSE announces the result.
However, depending on the CBSE result declaration date the cut-off list will be announced in August
The admission schedule is yet to release by the Delhi University and it remains to be seen if the registration process for admission starts tomorrow or not. The registration process, when begins, will be held through the online admission portal. There will be separate links for UG and PG admission.
Delhi University mulls to make the entire admission process online. Which also includes online verification of certificates. Although Delhi University has put the admission process on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, its admission branch is working toward strengthening the process.
Previously only submission of the form, selection, of course, fees submission among others were online. Ones the cut-off announced students had to reach the respective colleges within three days for admission and being from other states than Delhi, it was difficult for them. The online admission process will provide relaxation to both teachers as well as students.
