Delhi University grants admission on the basis of categories. Students taking DU admission under the sports category had to submit their certificates and were always selected on the basis of their trails.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students willing to take DU admission under the sports category will be selected only on the basis of their certificates. Delhi University has been continuously revising its admission policy for students of the sports category. Till last year, students were called for trails and always submitted their national level certification they won in the last two years of their schooling.
DU IS NOT RECOGNISING CERTAIN DISCIPLINES FOR SPORTS QUOTA
This year there would be no trials. Students will be selected only on the basis of their national-level certificate. But, Delhi University is not recognizing certain disciplines for DU admission under sports quota. It began from equestrian, then Golf and then Yoga. This year, those students who have done their schooling from Delhi schools and left in the lurch of shooting. Delhi University will now consider only those students who are a part of a 10-meter air rifle and air pistol. But Lady Shri Ram College and Jesus and Mary College were granting DU admission on the shotgun as well. This case of considering only a limited category is not clear till now.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF AADYA TRIPATHI
A student named Aadya Tripathi complete her schooling from Delhi School and scored 94.75% in class 12th under CBSE. She is a trap shooter and won 11 medals under Delhi State meets and North zone Championship. She also won three medals in All India GV Mavalankar and two medals in Khelo India Youth Games. Last year, she represented India in Asian Shooting Championship and is a part of the National Junior Squad. She is recognized by the Delhi Government under the “ Mission Excellence Scheme.”
ALL THE RULES AND REGULATIONS SHOULD BE FOLLOWED
A professor of Delhi University said that all the rules framed by the University for DU admission should be followed. They cannot make an exception for the students unless they are a part of 10-meter events. There are many more cases like Aadya Tripathi who could not get DU admission even after getting such recognition and achievements. Those young talented students who went to Khelo India Youth Games and recognized by the government as champions are deprived of getting admission in Delhi University without any fault.
CUT OFF LIST OF THIS YEAR WOULD BE HIGH
CBSE has declared their results for class 10th as well as 12th students. The admission portal of Delhi University has taken all the registrations. This year, many students got more than 95% in their 12th boards. It is likely to be estimated that the cut off list would be high considering the results of the students. Delhi University is accepting OBC certificates issued after 31 March 2020. Those students who did not have OBC certificates we’re requested to attach an acknowledgment slip for the same.
