REASONS FOR RECEIVING HIGHER APPLICATIONS FOR DU ADMISSION

The administration believes that the admission portal was open for all for a longer period of time this year. That is why they received higher applications. The admission portal was open from June 20 to August 31.

The Dean of Admissions, Shobha Bagai said that the Delhi University administration started the process of DU admission much before any other Central or State University. The portal was open for almost 10 weeks. Last year, the DU admission portal was not open for even a month.

Another reason to receive higher applications this year is that those students who planned to go abroad for higher studies did not go and applied at Delhi University. She said that students were unsure about their plans to go abroad for higher studies. Moreover, JEE, NEET, and CLAT entrance exams are also not conducted yet. So, they must have got a good rank in these exams and thought to apply.

As per the data, the number of applications of students from outside Delhi apply for DU admission is still the same. 60 percent of applicants are from states other than Delhi. DU received a large number of applications for students of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Teachers will conduct online classes this year. The government has stated that. So, COVID-19 did not affect applications. DU aspirations are sure that when the situation improves then only they have to come to Delhi.

In 2019, the applications of quiz and fine arts were 1,704 and 1,626 respectively. This year for quiz, there are 1,090 applications and for fine arts, there are just 709.

THE VARSITY ACCEPTED DU ADMISSION FOR ALL CATEGORIES

Delhi University at first canceled ECA admission in categories other than the National Service Scheme and National Cadet Corps. It is difficult to hold trial this year. But, after much outside pressure, the varsity accepted DU admission for all the categories in August. Students will get admission on the basis of certificates, not trials.

Bagai said that many students who learn other activities, leave those activities to focus more on their studies. Those students may not have relevant certificates in three years and this is the only criterion of DU admission. The criterion can be a barrier for them.

ONLINE PROCEDURE OF DU ADMISSION

Bagai further said that the cut-off list is not expected to release before the first week of October. Teachers will not start classes before November. 80 percent of students are from CBSE. That’s why the administration asked the state boards to give student’s results. When they will get marks of students, they will release the cut-offs.

After the cut off list arrives, students will choose the college to which they are eligible. Then that data will go to the head of the department. They will verify all the documents. After verification, they will approve it and send it to the admission committee convener. The Principal will receive it for final approval. After the final approval, students will be notified and asked to pay the fee. The process will complete thereupon
