DU Admission 2020: DU ELIMINATES THE 15% INTERVIEW COMPONENT FROM THE ADMISSION PROCESS

Due to the present situation, the University of Delhi has decided to cut down the interview process from the admission procedure. Mostly the postgraduate courses of the Delhi University included the 15% interview component in their admission process.

In a meeting held on Thursday, 11th June 2020 the administration took the decision to cut down the 15% interview component from the admission process. The decision was put up with the main purpose of abiding the social distancing norms. The University of Delhi is trying to administer the admission process in a contactless manner to follow the social distancing norms. The steps are being taken by the University to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

Arun Attree, who is an academic committee member and a part of the standing committee for admission said that the cut-down of 15% interview component from the admission process was an aspect of the agenda and it was approved by the committee members. He further included that Delhi University’s admissions for this year will be based on the written entrance tests. The registration process for the various courses in Delhi University is likely to begin from 20th June.

The University has advised it’s colleges not to include any additional admission criteria other than what has been cited in the bulletin of information. A DU official added that there will be no bodily presence of the applicant as the entire admission process will be taken online. So the colleges have been advised DU colleges not to add any extra admission criteria in their own part from what University has stated.

For this academic year, the Delhi University colleges have also been advised to formulate a powerful committee for conducting and administering counseling and guidance sessions through virtual mode. The University official added that a common format and layout will be formulated online to assist and guide colleges to communicate their decisions virtually. The colleges will be asked to give notifications to the students through an electronic mode if their admission has been put on hold or is being denied. The college can verify the original certificates and mark sheets of the students once the University begins its new academic session.

Till the previous year, the students were asked to visit the colleges for the verification of the documents and to proceed with the admission process after the cutoffs were released.

DU EXAMS: AUTHORITIES MAY CONDUCT END SEMESTER EXAMS FOR 1st AND 2nd YEAR STUDENTS NEXT YEAR

In regard to the documents submitted through an online mode, it has been made clear that once the admission is given to a student on the basis of documents submitted online the college can not deny or cancel the admission.

The Delhi University college cannot cancel the admission by asserting that the documents are unacceptable unless they are forged. The colleges are advised to ask for additional information via phone or email. Furthermore, in case of any discrepancy related to the name, surname, or address of the candidate the colleges are asked to verify it with other documents rather than canceling the admission.
