Reserved OBC and EWS candidates are given 14 days to submit a renewed category certificate to the DU colleges. Reserved Students under Other Backward Class(OBC) and Economically Weaker Section(EWS) criteria are supposed to submit their category certificate for admissions. Their category certificate needs to be issued after 31st March 2020 as per DU guidelines. However, students were not able to update their certificates because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Hence, the varsity gives the candidates a 14-day time to submit their renewed category certificates.

Several students are facing problems with their category certificates not getting accepted. Hence, these aspiring candidates raised concerns over this issue as it is restricting their admission procedure. However, as per DU guidelines, candidates are required to submit fresh category certificates to the varsity. Hence, students will OBC/EWS Certificate issued before 31st March are facing verification problems. Therefore, renewed documents of the reserved OBC students are the need of the hour. For DU admission 2020, category certificates issued after 31st March 2020 are required and nothing stale.

DU ADMISSION: LAST DAY OF APPLICATION UNDER FIRST CUT OFF TODAY

Candidates were unable to renew their certificates and get fresh ones because of the ongoing pandemic and lockdown. The nationwide lockdown had left all the offices closed for a lot of time. Hence, a lot of candidates were unable to get fresh OBC and EWS certificates.

DU Admission branch on OBC certificates:

DU admission branch was informed about this matter when several colleges demanded the latest OBC/EWS certificates from the candidates for admission. Hence, an email was sent to all the DU colleges directing them to allow aspirants to take admissions for a time being. The admission committee directed the colleges to get a self-attested undertaking. Hence, a candidate who fails to provide a fresh OBC/EWS certificate during admission will be given a stipulated time as mentioned in the student’s undertaking.

DU ADMISSION 2020: QUERY FORMS INITIATED BY THE ADMISSION COMMITTEE

Therefore, such candidates have to submit a self-attested undertaking which would mention the estimated time within which the fresh category certificates have to be submitted. Along with the undertaking, a self-attested copy of the acknowledgment slip has also to be provided to the college. Hence, in the undertaking, students have been asked to provide details for their application for the new certificate.

Words in the OBS/EWS Undertaking:

“ I undertake that, my admission against the reserved seat is subject to the submission of a valid and fresh OBC (Non-creamy layer)/ EWS Income Certificate. The new certificate will be submitted within the given time limit of 14 days from the date of admission subject to the last day of admission.”

DU ADMISSION 2020: HURDLE OF CASTE CERTIFICATE FOR OBC STUDENTS

Admission will be canceled by the college if the student fails to submit the fresh OBC/EWS certificate within the estimated period. Hence, the undertaking adds “I also state that I am aware that failure to submit the certificate will get my admission canceled as it depends on the validation of my original certificates.”

Hritik, an aspiring candidate says that he is glad to get some extra time. He has taken admission in B.A. honors Sanskrit. However, he could not apply for a renewed OBC certificate. Despite applying online as per SDM’s direction, his certificate is yet to be issued. Hence, this extension of time brought relief to the students.
