On Monday for BTech students of second and third-year, The Delhi Technological University (DTU) has released the date sheet for the upcoming examinations. The exams will start on July 27, 2020.
However, students are not happy with the decision to perform an assessment for all semesters, they are naming it the violation of UGC guidelines. As per the guidelines of UGC, all students must be promoted on the basis of internal assessment except final year students. the students, As a result, have started an online campaign to #canceldtuexams.
The unfinished syllabus is a concern of the students as it impacts the ongoing internship to impeding recruitment drives. Several concessions to students have been given by college authorities to assure a smooth exam series. College authorities said that all concerns have been handled before disclosing the date-sheet. Students file a complaint that the lectures that need at least 42 hours of teaching were summarized in short sessions.
Exams amid internships
Most students are complaining about this as they are in the midst of completing their summer internships. It is challenging for students to complete their summer internships and preparing for the online examinations simultaneously whereas, some students are protesting on social media and some have demanded the DTU administration to withdraw the decision.
Students were notified in May when the online classes finished that their exams will be held in July. Also, the dates have been declared by the Academic Council after discussing students and faculty members. It is not a lop-sided judgment. Explained by Kamal Pathak, controller of examinations, DTU.
For students who may not be able to appear for any exams as per the recent schedule, they can opt to appear later in the offline mode along with supplementary exams.

Pathak added that initially they were also worried about online exams but were later comfortable as the process was smooth. As the association has already attained exams for final year students.
Incomplete syllabus
Students have raised complaints regarding an insufficient number of classes held during the lockdown and incomplete syllabus.

Pathak clarified that Generally the course educational plan is done in April and this year extra online classes were directed to guarantee the equivalent. He added that the University is aware of the circumstances and the teachers who teach them will make the exams. They should not worried about the difficulty level of the exams.
Pathak added that DTU has offered to give laptops and make additional arrangements for the needy students to help them appear in online exams.
