On March 4, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia launched the Delhi Teachers University whose campus is located in Outram Lane in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi. It is going to offer various courses such as BA-BEd and BSc-BEd, with a focus on fundamental and applied research in education.
Sisodia further said that I am very happy to inaugurate the Delhi Teachers University. It is the initial IGNOU of its kind in Delhi which conducts to produce well-educated and highly qualified teachers. Our government aims to inspire the students of today to become the teachers of tomorrow.
In addition, the university will propose a new age, integrated teacher education program after class XII. It will also emphasize fundamental and applied research in education by co-operating with national and international organizations.
The education minister of Delhi, Sisodia also said, A teacher touches all elements of our life. That’s why it was easier to verify IITs, IIMs, AIIMS but we couldn’t organize a top-level teachers’ university to date.

In January, the Delhi Assembly ratified a bill to set up a world-class teacher-training university. To establish a new era of teachers, the university will offer teacher education courses such as BA-BEd and BSc-BEd.
