Delhi University held its 99th Foundation Day on Saturday, 11th September. Vice-Chancellor PC Joshi earlier introduced the Delhi University`s Vidya Vistar scheme. Under the scheme, DU will share its faculties, libraries, and other academic amenities with partnered institutes of remote areas across the country.
This year Foundation Day was not conducted on its falling date of 1st May, due to the second wave of Pandemic. Delhi University`s 19 colleges and 5 departments approved under the Vidya Vistar scheme. These colleges and departments will set up academic links with 33 colleges in remote areas across the country.
However, this scheme was initiated as a part of the purposed ideas in NEP 2020. NEP 2020 suggests higher educational institutes should supervise education standards in the country.
STATEMENT OF VC ON FOUNDATION DAY?
Delhi University continued with the highest global standards and best academic practices. VC said that we are in a view to get international adjunct faculty in various departments.
He further said we can avail experience, specialized knowledge, and other academic values from which University will improve in all. Moreover, making the teaching-learning process and research activities will be better. Thus, University’s global standards will improve. Moreover, he informed about the detailed talks going for NEP 2020 implementation framework.

Vice-Chancellor stressed about research activities in the University. To revivify the research works, University revived the grants scheme for teachers. Around 5.5 crore grants sanctioned for 165 research proposals.
On the Foundation Day event, 250 applicants received Institute of Eminence research grants. Moreover, notable alumni Kiren Rijiju, Imtiaz Ali, and others honored at the event.
