New Delhi: On Tuesday, Rajdhani College of Delhi University went solar. An 80 KV solar power generation plant was installed on its rooftop. This has been done in collaboration with the Indraprastha Power Generation Company Limited.

The Ruling Aam Aadmi Party’s Renewable Energy Policy has made this possible. Under this scheme, Rajdhani College is the first college. It is expected that the Rajdhani College will save at least around a lakh per month on the power bill.

The Renewable Energy Policy was one of the most famous polls promises. Under this policy, the government funds the entire project.

Convenor of the Solar Committee of the College, AP Singh said that these panels have been installed on a 25-year contract basis by the government. The estimated budget is Rs 20 lakh for the 80 KV plant.

Rajesh Giri, the principal said that now the college will pay for Rs 3.15 for each unit instead of the earlier Rs 10 for the power which is generated from the plant. In this manner, the college will continue saving for 25 years. He said that all of this has been possible because of the special scheme of the AAP government.
