University of Delhi’s Campus of Open Learning (DU COL) has planned to begin skill-based job-ready courses. This center for innovative courses will be an add-on course for students who can choose one or more such programs. Moreover, according to the senior official, the courses will commence from the next academic session.

Presently, COL offers two diploma and certificate courses in Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship. The proposal aims to generate more such diploma and certificate courses on its campus. Besides, as per officials, diplomas in mass media and Journalism may launch in the upcoming session. 

On this, Payel Mago, Director of the Faculty of Open Learning explained that the new center will have an academic coordinator. And, it will work in association with COL teachers. Moreover, not only the students of the School of Open Learning but also the students who are pursuing regular courses can enroll in these courses.

She says, “We aim to build it as a large center with several skill-based job-ready courses. Accordingly, a myriad of SOL students will have a variety of options to choose from. Every student should learn at least one skill. Most importantly, any student can join whereas our own students can take such courses as add-on courses.” 

She added that the industry experts and academicians will become part of their faculty. And, they are also looking for colleges that can provide them with infrastructure for respectful courses. 

Furthermore, within the next 14 days, the syllabus will be framed. And, content development will be done before July 2022. Therefore, the new batch can take classes from August.
