Delhi University stated on December 21 that it will add five new seats to courses this year. But, the varsity has not issued any directions to colleges yet. On the other hand, DU admission 2020 is going to end on December 31.

The registrar signed a notification in which it was stated that college principals will choose at least 5 students over the allotted number of seats. Out of the admitted students, Delhi University will suggest at least 2 names. The varsity will grant 10 percent relaxation to those five students.

DU COLLEGES ARE WAITING FOR THE DIRECTIONS

Some colleges are waiting for Delhi University to issue the directions. On the other hand, some DU colleges have passed the statement to their governing bodies. They asked about the need of issuing that statement.

DELHI UNIVERSITY IS CONDUCTING AN ACTIVITY SIMILAR TO THE MANAGEMENT QUOTA

Some DU colleges said that Principals do not have the right to take these decisions. However, a principal of one of the DU colleges said that the varsity is conducting an activity similar to the management quota of private colleges. He is very disappointed in this decision and said that Delhi University used the situation of COVID-19 as a crutch which is utterly shameful.

DELHI UNIVERSITY DID NOT DISCUSS THE MATTER WITH ANY COUNCIL

Manoj Khanna is the Principal of Ramjas College. He said that Delhi University should have discussed this matter with the Academic Council or the Executive Council, or at least with the admission committee. Moreover, Principals of respective DU colleges do not know how the process of allotment of seats will take place.

NOBODY IS CLEAR ABOUT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DECISION

Suman Sharma is the Principal of Lady Shri Ram College. She has not taken any decision yet. Kalpana Bhakuni, the Principal of Kamla Nehru College said that they do not have any clarity about the implementation and directions of the statement. Moreover, they do not know the implications of the same.

DU THIRD SPECIAL CUTOFF LIST RELEASED NOW| CHECK DETAILS

NO RESOLUTION SUPPORTS THE STATEMENT

Babri Moitra Saraf is the Principal of IP College for Women. She said that no ordinance or resolution supports the statement. Moreover, she has forwarded the statement to the college administration and said that nobody is allowed to choose students in such a manner. Lastly, Saraf said that she attended the meeting of the Executive Council in December.

DELHI UNIVERSITY TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS OPPOSES DISCRETIONARY ADMISSION QUOTA

THE ADMISSION COMMITTEE HELD A MEETING TO DISCUSS THE TOPIC

Nobody discussed this topic in the meeting. Moreover, nobody knows which Principal requested the notification. The Dean of Delhi University college, Balaram Pani said that the decision will go through the registrar. The admission committee held a meeting related to this decision. They will get clarification on Monday.
