DELHI UNIVERSITY STUDENTS COMBAT POST-DIWALI SMOG, TURN WASTE INTO ECO TRIUMPH!

After Diwali, Delhi often gets covered in smoke, making people feel not so good. But some students from Delhi University want to make things better. They don’t want to just feel sad about the Diwali smog; they want to do something. Here’s how they’re turning Diwali waste into good things:

ARSD College: Saving Flowers

At ARSD College, students collected more than 70kg of used flowers after Diwali. Instead of throwing them away, they found NGOs that turn this flower waste into good stuff like incense sticks and natural colors. Tanushika Chaudhary, a final-year student, says they want everyone to have a Diwali where there’s no waste.

SGTB Khalsa College: Changing Plastic into Cool Bags

At SGTB Khalsa College, students noticed a big problem with plastic waste from Diwali. Aditya Ghosh, a second-year student, and his friends decided to collect single-use plastic and make it into cool bags. They’re turning plastic into a fashion statement, creating bags from planters to laptop sleeves.

SRCC: Fixing Firecracker Mess

Even though firecrackers are not allowed, people still burst them. Sundaram Solanky, a student at SRCC, thinks it’s not good because it makes a mess. So, they’re working with people who collect waste to clean it up. They use some of the waste for compost, and they even want to make new firecrackers that help plants grow.

In simple words, these students are like superheroes. They don’t just complain about the problems after Diwali Smog; they do something about it. They are turning the things we don’t need into things that help us and the environment.

What We Can Learn

These students teach us that even small actions can make a big difference. We should all try to make our festivals happy not just for us but also for our environment. Let’s be like these students and turn our waste into good things!

Celebrating Responsibly

Diwali is a time of joy, and these students show us that we can celebrate while also taking care of our surroundings. It’s like having a birthday party and cleaning up the mess afterward. We can enjoy the festivities and, at the same time, make sure our home, which is the Earth, stays clean and happy. So, let’s remember these lessons from the students and celebrate responsibly.
