Delhi University Student Arrested: A Delhi University student was arrested for killing a female friend at Sanjay Van. He strangled, stabbed, and burned the victim after stalking her for months.
A tragic crime shook Delhi this week after an 18-year-old girl was murdered at Sanjay Van, a forest area in South Delhi’s Mehrauli. The Delhi University student arrested for this brutal act is also 18 years old. He was studying at the School of Open Learning (SOL), Delhi University.
According to the police, the victim was a BA English (Honours) student at SOL. She left home on Sunday morning to attend classes. Around noon, she told her mother she would return soon. But she never came back.
By evening, the victim’s family grew worried. They received a call from the accused’s father, claiming his son was attacked in Sanjay Van and was getting treatment at a hospital in Pitampura. This raised suspicion, as the two had a history of problems.
The victim’s parents went to Sanjay Van to search for her, but could not find her. Later, a report of missing persons was filed at the Mehrauli police station. Police launched a full investigation. CCTV footage from the area was analysed, and suspicion fell on the accused.
During questioning, the Delhi University student arrested eventually confessed to the crime. He told police that he had called the girl to the Sanjay Van. There, in a quiet area, he strangled and stabbed her. After killing her, he tried to burn the body with petrol to hide the evidence.
Police found the victim’s charred body on Monday morning in the forest. Forensic teams were called to the scene, and evidence was collected. The murder weapon was also recovered based on the accused’s statement.

The accused is a B.Com first-year student at Delhi University’s SOL. He lived in Rani Bagh. His father runs a small electrical equipment business. The victim lived in Jahangirpuri. She was the youngest daughter in the family. She was also taking Korean language lessons alongside her English Honours course.
