DELHI UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS AND STAFF TO RETURN TO WORK FROM TODAY

The professors under Delhi University Teacher Association (DUTA) will return to their duties from today and start taking classes. However, the association has said that the strike will be started again from April 12, if their conditions are not considered. Teaching and non-teaching staff in 12 colleges of Delhi University have not received a salary for about 6 months for which DUTA has demonstrated on time but no solution has been found so far.

Chief Minister gave an assurance
On March 17, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered the release of Rs 28.24 crore in a meeting with the Delhi University college administration. It was also assured that the government will not stop the salary of the staff of Delhi University colleges in any situation. But due to the non-compliance of this order till now, the teachers who are facing financial constraints and mental stress have decided to give priority to the interest of the students from the present day, but have made it clear that by 12 April, if no concrete steps are taken, the strike will begin again.

Giving the information, DUTA President Rajib says that 12 colleges of Delhi University are 100 percent funded by the Delhi government. Deen Dayal Upadhyay College, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, College of Applied Science (Women), Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Bhagini Nivedita College, Acharya Narendra Dev College, Maharishi Balmiki College, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Science, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Maharaja Agrasen College are included in the list of colleges which are fully Delhi Government funded colleges.

#REOPENDU: THE SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN BY DU STUDENTS

Teachers’ plan ahead
The colleges of Delhi University (DU) were closed during the lockdown to prevent the global pandemic Coronavirus infection and to prevent students from getting infected. After which the university was opened for the final year students from 1 February, the final year students have been coming to the campus for about two months but the colleges are still closed for the rest of the classes. On March 15, the teachers marched on foot from Gate number one of the University of Delhi to the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, seeking to get their salaries. At the same time, on March 18, they also marched on foot to the Lieutenant Governor’s Office. Now DUTA has decided that:-

  • On April 5, mass media will be held in the constituency of Chief Minister Kejriwal.
  • On April 7, at 11 am, teachers will gather at Delhi’s Mandi House with their demands.
  • On 9 April, mass democracy will be held in the constituency of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

DUTA COMPLAIN ABOUT NOT GETTING ENOUGH TIME TO MAKE SUGGESTIONS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION

Dutta President Rajiv Ray and Secretary Rajinder Singh, however, write reassuringly that in all demonstrations and strikes, precautions related to the corona virus will be taken care of.
