University of Delhi (DU) is going to take many steps for its global identity. In which Delhi University Mission 500 and Mission 300 are the main ones. Delhi University Mission 500 aims to make its presence in the list of top 500 institutions in the QS World Rankings. Whereas under Mission 300, DU will first seek donations from its students, teachers, staff, and later from the alumni here for the betterment of the university. Under this, DU has set a target of raising Rs 300 crore.
DU acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. PC Joshi said that DU is currently out of the QS rankings. They are around 510 right now. They want to make their place within 400-500. They are preparing for the global ranking and they hope that they will all do it together. It is essential for global identity.
Apart from this, they want to raise Rs 300 crore for the university under Mission 300. He said, for an educational institution, if he had to beg his students and the staff, he is ready to beg. He will start this with his students. After this, he would ask the teachers to give some part of their salary to fund this institute. They will start this on their own. The amount of 300 crores for their students and teachers is not such a big amount that they cannot collect.
GOVT. WILL GIVE 1000 CRORES FOR DELHI UNIVERSITY MISSION 300
DU already has the status of an excellent institution. For this, the government will give 1000 crore rupees to the university in a few years. If DU raises Rs 300 crore, it will help to promote academia, innovation, and research. These two missions are connected to each other.
