Delhi University JAIHIND Scheme Begins to Empower Tribal Students in Manipur

Delhi University JAIHIND Scheme launched to train 25 tribal students from Ukhrul, Manipur. The initiative prepares students for CUET and life skills.

Delhi University has launched a new programme called the Delhi University JAIHIND Scheme. This initiative is aimed at supporting school students from tribal communities in remote areas. It gives them better access to higher education and helps them build useful life skills.

The scheme stands for Janajati Immersive Holistic Intervention for Novel Development. It focuses on students from classes 9 to 12 who belong to Scheduled Tribes. The goal is to help them prepare for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and give them tools for a better future.

The first batch of this scheme includes 25 students. These students come from four government schools in the Ukhrul district, Manipur. All 25 participants belong to the Tangkhul Naga tribe. They were selected based on their academic performance.

The two-week programme runs from June 17 to June 29. It is being held on the campus of the Delhi University. The scheme was officially launched at a special event attended by government and university officials. Among them was Vineet Joshi, Secretary at the Ministry of Education.

The Delhi University JAIHIND Scheme has a clear and focused goal. It is designed to bridge the gap between school education and college entrance. Many students from remote areas do not get enough support to compete in exams like CUET. This scheme hopes to change that by offering training and exposure.

Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh stated that the programme will offer practical skills. It will also help students get ready for future academic challenges. The scheme combines both academic and life-based learning for full development.

The 25 selected students include 13 boys and 12 girls. They were chosen from the Ukhrul district based on merit. All are from the Tangkhul Naga tribe. These students will now get a chance to visit Delhi, stay at the campus, and learn through real-life exposure.

The Delhi University JAIHIND Scheme is also about learning new skills. One part of the course includes training in fish farming. Since natural still water bodies are rare in hill regions, the programme teaches artificial pisciculture. Students will also learn how to make fish feed using local materials.

This kind of skill training adds value to the students’ knowledge. It can open doors for self-employment and sustainable income. The idea is to mix modern education with the traditional needs of the region.

During the event, students were also informed about support schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Vidyalakshmi Yojana. This central government scheme helps students get loans for higher education. It is especially useful for those who are good at studies but face financial problems.

The Delhi University JAIHIND Scheme is one of the first efforts of its kind. It combines academic preparation with skill-based learning. It also allows students to explore life beyond their hometowns. For many of these students, it is their first time visiting a big city like Delhi.

This exposure plays a key role in changing how they see the world. It motivates them to aim higher and chase better career goals. The support from Delhi University ensures they are not left behind due to location or lack of resources.

The university plans to expand this scheme in future. Other tribal areas may also be included in the coming years. The success of this batch will help shape future versions of the scheme.

The Delhi University JAIHIND Scheme is a small step with a big goal. It aims to uplift, educate, and empower tribal youth. By giving them the tools to succeed, the programme creates hope and real change.

In summary, the Delhi University JAIHIND Scheme is about access, opportunity, and growth. It stands as a strong example of how education can help bridge gaps in society. With the right support, students from even the most remote areas can achieve their dreams.
