On 8th June 2020, a seven-member delegation of DUSU and its executive council met Dean Examinations and submitted a seven-point memorandum. Delhi University’s Student Union (DUSU) in its memorandum, has proposed seven vital demands with regard to the upcoming examinations and emphasizes the grievances as well as the issues which have immersed in the previous semester results of the students that have been recently released. The memorandum has been submitted to highlight the problems that are being faced by the students due to released results and upcoming examinations.
DUSU’S seven pointer memorandum is a call for the enhancement of the flexibility of the upcoming examinations. DUSU’S memorandum is to address the concerns of the students so that they are not augmented further. The memorandum states that in these severe times of pandemic there is a need to take the steps which are in the best interest if the student’s community.

The following seven integral and crucial demands have been proposed by DUSU in its memorandum:-
1) Increase in the timings of the examination
Memorandum presented by DUSU to the Dean Examinations states that timings for attempting the open book examinations should be increased as students are being provided with the less time than what they used to get for writing the pen and paper offline examination. Memorandum in its first point has demanded the enhancement of the duration of the exam timings as students might face technical problems in uploading answers and downloading question paper.

The memorandum has sited an example for the Dean Examinations to explain the situation of students. It stated that for law faculty students they are being given 30 mins to attempt a 25 marks question. Earlier the average timing yo attempt a 20 mark question was 36 mins.
2) Increment in the options of the questions
The memorandum demanded that there should be an increment in the options of the questions to enhance flexibility because the syllabus taught to the students online covers only 50% of the entire syllabus. Therefore the University must provide more choices to the students to attempt the paper. The students should be asked to attempt either three questions out if six or the number of questions should be increased to 8 so that students can attempt any four out of them.
3) Fostering of A Comprehensive and Holistic Online Portal
The memorandum in its third point demands the generation of an online portal that provides all the study material for the students. A fostering of a comprehensive and holistic online portal for the students where there is the provision of the academic resource material such as notes, syllabus, and other material to keep them thoroughly updated.
4) Option for Offline Exams
In the fourth point, the memorandum demands that an option for the offline examinations should remain open for the students who wish to appear for offline exams even after appearing for online exams. Students who will be not satisfied with the online exams should be provided with another opportunity to appear for online exams. DUSU members have asked Dean Examination to provide the second option of offline exams to the Delhi University students.
5) Carry Forward Scheme for Intermediate Students
The memorandum proposed Delhi University to form a carry forward scheme for the intermediate semester year students. The University has announced that intermediate students will be promoted on the basis of last year’s results and internal assessments. But students who scored less will be at a disadvantage due to the promotion system. Thus they should be given a chance to improve their results. Intermediary students should be provided with an option to improve their results later.

6) Revaluation of Last Semester’s Results
The memorandum states that there were several technical errors in the last semester’s results that have been recently released. The errors incorporate marking zero, marks if other subjects being added and also the other issues. Thus there is a need for the revaluation of the results thoroughly so these issues are resolved bad no student suffers because of the blunders in the past semester’s results. Revaluation of last semester’s results should be done by the University and promotion should be given on the basis of revalued results.
7) Important Vital Certificates
The memorandum asserted that there are many students in the University who do not possess important vital certificates. DUSU has proposed in his memorandum that the University of Delhi should either provide those students the certificates in an offline manner through arrangements or make a provision for the online migration certificates. DUSU members along with its executive council have proposed the University of Delhi to provide important vital certificates to the University students either via offline mode or make arrangements online.
DUSU has requested and implored the University administration to come up with the resolution to the issues and also address the demands of the students so that their interests are thoroughly accommodated. DUSU wants that no students should be suffered or their results should be affected due to online exams or promotion amid COVID-19 pandemic.

The memorandum stated that DUSU will extend its full support and corporation in these critical times. DUSU has requested to bring their demands into consideration to come out with the best decision which accommodates the interest of the students.
As per the DUSU members, the Dean Examinations have assured them to look into the matter and take appropriate action to safeguard the student’s interest. While DUSU has assured the University students that DUSU is working to safeguard their interest and it stands solitary besides its students and will bring this matter of examination to initiate students. The seven members of DUSU and its executive council met with the Dean examination and introduced them with all the problems students are facing because of last semester’s result and the problems that might arise due to online examinations.
